Mark is a charterered surveyor with 25 years experience of the building industry. He has been involved in a wide variety of construction, having been in both contracting and in professional practice.

He spent a number of informative years working for small and large building contractors, gaining experience of new construction and refurbishment.

In 1982 he started his own construction company which he ran for 9 years. For the past eleven years he has run his own multi disciplinary practice and has specialised in Expert Witness.

He is a Fellow of the Architecture and Surveying Institute and the Chartered Institute of Building and a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Planning Supervisors.

He has a number of academic qualifications relating to construction, the most advanced being a post graduate diploma in Construction Project Management. He also maintains a rigorous CPD programme.

As a past member of the Federation of Master Builders he served on a number of their committees. Notably he was a member of the Contractors Joint Executive Committee for six years. This deals with matters of contract law and technical liaison with government and the European Commission.

Mark also provides advice to contractors and clients on a regular basis and has been called
upon to speak on building matters on local radio.

Mark is the principal of T. M. Building Consultants which provides a wide range of services within the construction industry such as design, structural reports and project management. Recent commissions have included contracts with local authorities, national utility companies, commercial
enterprise and individual clients. Over the past few years reports on various issues and disputes have been commissioned by more than eighteen firms of solicitors, Trading Standards and several local police forces. In most instances, disputes have been resolved by negotiation but on a number of occasions it has been necessary to attend court and provide expert witness. Mark has also conducted a number of matters under the Arbitration Act 1996 and continues to conduct adjudication and arbitration where necessary.

Health and Safety is an important issue in the industry and T. M. Building Consultants provides planning supervision and Health and Safety advice. Mark is a qualified planning supervisor and conducts seminars on Health and Safety issues for contractors and clients.
